Ant-Man 3 Footage Highlights Scott’s Post-Endgame Celebrity Status

New Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania footage shown at this year’s CCXP highlights Scott Lang’s newfound celebrity status following Avengers: Endgame.

The opening scene for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will show Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang reveling in his newfound celebrity status following the events of Avengers: Endgame. Set to be the first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 5 slate, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will see Rudd return alongside returning Ant-Man stars Evangeline Lilly, Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer, David Dastmalchian, and Randall Park. Also joining the cast for the threequel is Kathryn Newton as Scott’s daughter Cassie and Jonathan Majors as the MCU’s next big bad, Kang the Conqueror.

With Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania currently set for release in February of next year, fans were recently treated to the film’s opening sequence during the Marvel panel at Brazil’s CCXP. Per Omelete (via The Direct), Rudd himself introduced the film’s opening sequence which showcased Scott living as a celebrity after helping the Avengers undo Thanos’ snap during the events of Avengers: Endgame. Meanwhile, Lilly’s Hope Van Dyne is a celebrated philanthropist who has been recognized for using Pym particles to solve food and housing shortages. The panel also showcased a second clip, a tense exchange between Scott and Kang while Cassie is held hostage, where Kang asked for Scott’s help to steal an artifact that would free him from his imprisonment in the Quantum Realm. Kang was also shown pinning Scott to the ground with a foot on his head.

What Scott Being Famous Means For Ant-Man 3

Scott Lang on camera closer in Avengers Endgame

Marvel fans will recall the awkward yet amusing moment at the beginning of Avengers: Endgame when Scott offered to take a photograph with a group of awestruck children who had approached the Hulk for a selfie. Yet despite declaring himself to be Ant-Man, the children still did not recognize who he was. From this most recent footage description, this all seems set to change for Scott, who has primarily found himself down on his luck during his previous solo outings.

In the original Ant-Man film, Rudd’s character had only recently been released from prison for crimes he had committed against his former employer in a bid to return the money they had been illegally overcharging their customers. Despite his good intentions, Scott found it difficult to gain meaningful employment upon his release due to his criminal history. Instead, he was eventually talked into breaking into Hank Pym’s house, where he first encountered the Ant-Man suit. Scott seemingly fared no better during 2018’s sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp, which saw him placed under house arrest due to his involvement in violating the Sokovia Accords throughout the events of Captain America: Civil War.

With Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania now depicting Scott Lang as a much-loved celebrity, the threequel can look to atone for the various trials and tribulations that the previous films have heaped upon his character. Of course, Scott’s newfound fame will likely be of little help when he finds himself in the Quantum Realm and finally comes face-to-face with Kang. With Majors’ antagonist expected to be a major feature of the MCU’s Phase 5 arc, Scott’s celebrity status is unlikely to offer him any protection from the time-traveling supervillain.
