An exciting new Star Wars cosplay features Ahsoka Tano and Commander Rex having an epic Clone Wars reunion. Ahsoka Tano debuted in 2009’s The Clone Wars movie, becoming Anakin Skywalker’s new Jedi Padawan. As such, she soon met Captain Rex who helped lead Skywalker’s clone forces known as the 501st. Becoming allies and eventually survivors of the fallen Republic, this stunning new cosplay brings their friendship to life straight from the screen.
Shared by @snippycosplay on Instagram, this fantastic Star Wars cosplayer is dressed as Ahsoka Tano from The Clone Wars season 3 when she added her second green lightsaber. Ready for battle at Star Wars Celebration 2023, both lightsabers are vibrantly ignited as she stands next to fellow Star Wars cosplayer @rexness_overload who’s dressed as Commander Rex in his epic Phase II clone trooper armor. Both costumes are visually stunning and incredibly accurate in the photo taken by @jaym_photo, bringing the two Clone Wars heroes together as if they came straight to Star Wars Celebration from the actual galaxy far, far away.
Will Commander Rex Makes His Live-Action Debut in Ahsoka?
While Ahsoka and Rex served together during the Clone Wars, they also survived Order 66 and the fall of both the Jedi Order and Republic. During the Dark Times, Ahsoka and Rex both joined the growing Rebellion attempting to resist the Empire. However, Ahsoka disappeared after her battle with Darth Vader in Star Wars Rebels season 2 while Rex would continue on with the Rebellion, having fought in the Battle of Endor and likely surviving on into the New Republic era.
As such, the upcoming Ahsoka series will see the former Jedi looking for both Ezra Bridger and the Imperial Remnant’s leading villain Grand Admiral Thrawn. Additionally, it’s been confirmed that Ahsoka will reunite with other Rebels characters such as Hera Syndullla and Sabine Wren. Keeping that in mind, there are large hopes from fans that Temuera Morrison will also have a role as Captain Rex, providing his live-action debut in the Star Wars galaxy (though it’s not yet been confirmed).
This new cosplay photo is a great way to get excited about the possibility of an Ahsoka and Rex reuniting in live-action when Ahsoka begins streaming on Disney+. The level of detail and passion behind both of these Star Wars costumes is quite evident. It’s also a fun bit of Star Wars nostalgia, a reminder of how far both characters have come in the Star Wars galaxy.
