90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days star Usman “Sojaboy” Umar is 18 years younger than his love interest Kimberly Menzies, but his behavior suggests that he might be much more mature than she happens to be. Sojaboy and Kimberly talked for about a year before she fell head over heels for the Nigerian rapper. She was excited when he extended the offer for her to visit him in Tunisia while he recorded a music video and gladly accepted. However, the trip was nothing like she’d imagined.
Much like his first wife, “Baby Girl” Lisa Hamme, Kimberly has a powerful personality. She also has a bit of a jealous streak. Alas, those aren’t the only concerns. Recently, Sojaboy revealed the truth on 90 Day Fiancé about his song “Zara” and admitted that it was a woman whom he used to date. Not to mention, they dated while Sojaboy was confiding in Kimberly for that year. Understandably, she was distraught. However, the actions that ensued afterward hint to viewers that, despite their large age gap, Sojaboy is the mature person in the relationship.
It’s undeniable that withholding this information and confiding in someone on an emotional level while in a relationship with someone else is wrong. Nonetheless, Usman was trying to correct his mistake. He came clean about the situation and clarified the timeline, which is admirable. In turn, to prove he’s serious about the relationship, he set up a romantic dinner on the beach and serenaded Kimberly – something she said would be a dream come true for her. On the other hand, Kimberly’s actions were less than admirable.
While arguing, Kimberly took back an expensive necklace she bought for Usman and also threw water in his face. Despite him urging her to communicate, she refused and began packing her bags to return to the US, which is a fairly common occurrence for her. Unfortunately, this is just the tip of the iceberg compared to what she’s presented to viewers thus far. Even though her feelings are understandable, her actions are not what viewers would expect from a 50-year-old.
While his behavior was inappropriate, Usman was brave to admit his wrongdoings. Even when all the odds seemed against them and his friends suggested he end the relationship, Sojaboy worked to prove his dedication. Perhaps there are a few things Usman can teach Kimberly. Alas, that seems unlikely. The upcoming previews hint the two are once again at odds before they go their separate ways and viewers are eager to learn if the tumultuous couple will appear on the 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days Tell-All as an official couple.
