How To Farm Hard Antlers In Valheim (The Fast Way)

Date:

In Valheim, players will need Hard Antlers to craft one of the most crucial simple tools in the game, a Pickaxe. This tool is important because it is the only tool currently in the game that can mine ore. There are a variety of ores in the game that are all used to craft items such as a forge or better weapons.

Valheim is an early-access game from Coffee Stain Studios. It is an exploration and survival-style game, and the crafting system in Valheim is necessary for player progression. The pickaxe will be a large part of that success, as it gives the players materials they cannot get otherwise.

Where To Find Hard Antler In Valheim

Valheim Workbench Keeps Enemies Away

Hard Antlers in Valheim only drop from one source. However, it is a key part of early game progression, so they are not easily missed. At the very beginning, Hugin, the black raven, will tell the character that the first step in their path will be to defeat Eikthyr, but that they must arm themselves first. Hard Antlers currently only drop from Eikthyr, and he is guaranteed to drop three of them.

To defeat Eikthyr, players will have to arm themselves first. Next, they will need to return to the original spawn point in the Meadows. It is the first place a player is dropped, and the player will be surrounded by runestones that give them messages in Valheim. One of these is glowing, and upon interacting with it, the player will be guided to the Eikthyr summoning point.

Players will need two Deer Trophies to summon Eikthyr, which are dropped from regular deer.

After defeating him, he will drop the three Hard Antlers, and players will be able to craft a pickaxe for the first time, using 1x Hard Antler and 10x Wood. Defeating Eikthyr the first time is enough Hard Antlers to craft three pickaxes. However, to get more of them when those pickaxes inevitably break, players can return to the altar and resummon Eikthyr with two more Deer Trophies. No matter how many times he is defeated, he will always drop three Hard Antlers.

While players can eventually upgrade their pickaxes later in the game, they will need the original pickaxe to mine the ore in Valheim to get a better one. The next pickaxe upgrade will require 10x Bronze, so the fastest option might be to farm enough Deer Trophies before leaving the Meadows to summon Eikthyr multiple times in Valheim.
