Warning: SPOILERS lie ahead for The Batman
A new fan poster sees Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker looming over Robert Pattinson’s Batman in a broken glass style similar to the Doctor Strange sequel. Phoenix brought his incarnation of the Clown Prince of Crime to life in Todd Phillips’ eponymous 2019 film that served as an origin story for the villain as aspiring stand-up comedian Arthur Fleck slowly descends into madness over a frustration with society. Joker received mixed-to-positive reviews from critics and was a box office smash, grossing over $1 billion against its estimated $70 million budget, becoming the first R-rated film to cross the billion-dollar milestone.
Pattinson has donned the cape and cowl for Matt Reeves’ The Batman, which picks up in Bruce Wayne’s second year of fighting crime in Gotham City as he contends with a deep web of corruption seemingly tied to his family’s past and to emerging serial killer The Riddler. Hitting theaters this month, the film has scored rave reviews from critics and audiences alike and is already on its way to a major box office haul, grossing over $258 million in its opening weekend to become the highest-grossing DC movie opening since 2016’s Suicide Squad. As many are looking to the future and celebrating The Batman‘s success, some are sharing their ideas on what should come next for the franchise.
In time for the new Dark Knight’s theatrical arrival, artists TMY_Arts and The_PS_Creations took to Instagram to share a special DC fan poster. The art sees Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker looming over Robert Pattinson’s Batman against a backdrop of Gotham City. Check out the exciting new poster below:

The Joker and Batman fan poster is interestingly crafted in a similar style to that of the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness poster in which various glass fragments feature reflections of the film’s characters and teased the arrivals of Captain Carter and Marvel Zombies. Artist TMY_Arts has previously offered their own takes on the Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel’s posters in connection to other franchises, including The Batman and Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The new poster is sure to be a visual treat for fans of both Phoenix’s Joker and Pattinson’s Batman, as well as a minor disappointment at the realization the two will likely never encounter each other on screen.
Though The Flash is set to break open the doors to the multiverse for the DC Extended Universe, both Warner Bros. and Matt Reeves have previously confirmed Pattinson’s Batman will continue to exist separate from this reality, squashing the likelihood of his facing off against Phoenix’s Joker. Additionally, with the former’s first film establishing Barry Keoghan as the Joker of its universe and the latter’s future currently unclear for a potential Joker 2, Pattinson and Phoenix seem more likely to unite for an independent film rather than their comic book counterparts. Audiences can revisit Phoenix’s Joker streaming on HBO Max now and catch Pattinson’s The Batman in theaters now.
