Moon Knight Video Introduces 3 New MCU Characters

Date:

Oscar Isaac, May Calamawy, and Ethan Hawke share some intriguing tidbits about their MCU characters in a new video for Disney+’s Moon Knight.

A new Moon Knight video puts the spotlight on the show’s three new MCU characters. Marvel has found great success with its ever-growing slate of Disney+ shows, and its latest effort is set to premiere in just one week. Moon Knight, a 6-epiode limited series written by Jeremy Slater and directed by Mohamed Diab, explores the darker side of the MCU through the eyes of Marc Spector (Oscar Isaac). Thanks to the Egyptian moon god Khonshu, Marc has been blessed with incredible abilities that he uses to fight crime.

Another key part of Marc’s story is that he has dissociative identity disorder, meaning he has multiple personalities living inside him. When Moon Knight begins, it isn’t Marc who is in charge, but Steven Grant, an unassuming gift shop employee who is baffled by sudden strange occurrences in his life. Beyond that, Marvel is going to great lengths to keep Moon Knight under wraps. The series also stars May Calamawy and Ethan Hawke, both of whom are primed to play key roles in Marc and Steven’s journeys.

As part of its ongoing efforts to promote Moon Knight, Marvel Entertainment has unveiled a new featurette that considers what makes up the mysterious series. In the video, Isaac, Calamawy, and Hawke all offer brief snippets about their characters. They’re intriguing teases, but they also leave a lot of questions in their wake. To make it even more exciting, Isaac ends the video with a phrase comics fans will know pretty well. Check it out below.

As to be expected with a series titled Moon Knight, much of the attention so far has been placed on the titular hero. Marvel has revealed a lot more about Steven than it has Marc, but various trailers have confirmed that the two identities will come face to face at some point. Hawke’s cult leader Arthur Harrow has been the subject of some intriguing teasers, and a recent video for Moon Knight even found him summoning a demon. That’s definitely what Hawke is alluding to in the above video when he mentions Harrow’s “unworldly power.”

As for Calamawy’s Layla, not much is clear about her just yet. The same Moon Knight clip that featured Harrow’s powers suggested Layla is familiar with Marc, but not Steven, meaning there’s an odd reunion on the way. Beyond that, it looks like Layla will be just as stunned by the mythical elements coming to life around her, and she could prove to be the audience’s surrogate in Moon Knight‘s early episodes. By the time this series is over, fans will probably know all there is to know about these three characters. Until then, learning more about them should be an exciting ride.
