Disney, if you still haven’t cast the Muses in that live-action Hercules movie of yours, consider Lizzo and Cardi B’s “Rumors” music video their official audition for the role. The musical duo channeled Greek goddesses for the production, dripping in gold from head to toe and wearing some seriously sexy outfits that rival the Muses’s body-hugging gowns. Let’s break down and fully appreciate each fashion moment, shall we?
The “Rumors” video kicks off with Lizzo in a shimmery, toga-like dress styled with a smattering of jewelry and metallic sandals with shin protectors, à la Hercules. After she struts among larger-than-life vases and dances atop a giant Greek column, Cardi B enters on the Mount Olympus-inspired scene in a baby bump-baring getup. While unraveling a seemingly endless scroll, she sports a gold breastplate and arm cuff custom-made by Misha Japanwala, enormous Schiaparelli earrings, a white skirt designed by Baba Jagne, a gold body chain, and lace-up Monika Chiang heels.
But wait, there’s more! Cardi and Lizzo treat us to entirely new ensembles in the second half of their video to really seal their goddess status. Lizzo slips into a sheer, crystal-embellished bodysuit complete with gold sandals and an elaborate headpiece. Meanwhile, Cardi dons a gold-plated, two-piece set with yet another body chain, pieces of fabric attached to her arms, and gold lace-up heels that, if you zoom in real close, feature tiny gold statues.
