In this age of collabs galore, it takes a lot for a project to cut through. A collaboration needs to be a little bit unexpected, immediately understandable—and above all, it needs to look great. That is precisely what we have here with this new capsule from streetwear legends at Stüssy and Danish textile brand Tekla: a collection of cozy gear for the home and beyond that is chock-full of high-grade California style.
The West Coasters at Stüssy know a thing or two about crossing the Atlantic for a collaboration. (The label has turned out not one but multiple certified-hit collabs with its friends in Sweden at Our Legacy.) Tekla was launched by a co-founder of the fashion-forward Stockholm footwear label Eytys, and focuses on simple bed and bath products with a fashionable edge. That Scandinavian design sensibility smashes head first with Stüssy’s laidback California cool and does not disappoint. There are pajamas offered in Tekla’s signature Poplin style, a long-sleeve top and shorts with a perfectly oversized and relaxed fit. (Plus, the wares are lightly stoned-washed for an extra soft and broken-in feel from the start.) Also included is a set of matching organic cotton bedding. The pajamas and the bedding come in breezy hand-drawn stripes or a warming shade of olive—two fabrics that feel like a natural home within the extended Stüssy universe. The collection is rounded out with hooded bathrobes, a beach towel with Stüssy’s iconic swirls, and a “surfer” robe in Baja stripes, a style that nods to a quintessential surfer garment in the Baja hoodie.
Stüssy x Tekla is just the type of clever collaboration that stands out in a sea of endless others. Pajamas and sheets from a beloved streetwear brand aren’t something you see everyday, but when the results are this good—a near-perfect intersection of covetable and practical and cozy—we wouldn’t be opposed to seeing it happen a lot more.
