Warning! SPOILERS for Sonic the Hedgehog 2.
The upbeat soundtrack of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 lends itself well to the fun and energetic tone of the film – here’s every song in the sequel movie. Creators decided to include multiple well-known hits of the past few generations to set the proper atmosphere and draw viewers in, and while reviews for Sonic 2 have been mixed, it’s unquestionable that the cheerful music suits the video game adaptation well.
The SEGA game is nostalgic for many viewers who have flocked to the theaters to see the next entry into the Sonic series over the weekend. This nostalgia is of particular importance because the first video game starring the blue hedgehog was released in 1991, making it even more significant that Sonic the Hedgehog 2 includes songs that were already popular at the time along with more recent music.
By stocking the soundtrack with music from the past several generations, Sonic 2 proves that it aims to attract adult viewers who are familiar with the older games just as much as it means to cater to family-friendly audiences, all while successfully setting the groundwork for a third Sonic the Hedgehog movie. With that in mind, here’s a list of every song in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and where to find it.
“It’s Tricky” by Run-D.M.C. – The 1980s classic plays as Sonic intervenes in a robbery, resulting in a high-speed chase with police and continues throughout the car chase as Sonic attempts to deal with various bombs and stop the runaway truck he’s driving.
“1812-Overture OP.96” by Peter Tchaikovsky – The Tchaikovsky song plays at the conclusion of the car chase when the bomb Sonic throws into a storm drain causes all the manholes on the block to explode.
“Stars In The Sky” (From Sonic the Hedgehog 2) by Kid Cudi – “Stars In The Sky” was recorded specifically for the movie. It plays as Sonic runs back home the morning after the car chase before he discovers Dr. Robotnik, played by actor Jim Carrey, has returned. The song plays again over the closing credits.
“Here Comes the Hotstepper (Heartical Mix)” by Ini Kamoze – The Wachowskis leave for Hawaii, and this song plays during a scene in which Sonic parties in the house and fills the entire living room with soap bubbles.
“This Is How We Do It” by Montelle Jordan – Sonic continues partying, and the song cuts out as sonic quickly cleans the house and answers a video call from Tom (James Marsden).

“Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson feat. Bruno Mars – The well-known song is what Sonic chooses, as he and Tails take their turn during the dance-off.
“A Summer Place” by Andy Williams – This song can be heard as Sonic jumps through lasers shot by Robotnik’s drones, as they attempt to escape after finding the compass.

“No Feelings” by Big Trilly – In this rare video game movie sequel, the song “No Feelings” is the ringtone to Tom’s cellphone which goes off twice during the wedding as Sonic tries to reach him.
“Barracuda” by Heart – Rachel drives a golf cart around the resort until she reaches the wedding venue in her attempt to take revenge on Randall, as the famous song by Heart plays.
“You Know How We Do It” by Ice Cube – Wade rides his scooter to Stone’s coffee shop while wearing a police light on his helmet, as this song plays.
“I Shrink, Therefore I Am” (From The Motion Picture Ant-Man and The Wasp) by Christophe Beck & Tyler Lawson Western – Sonic has a showdown with Knuckles after they find the master emerald, and this song plays over their battle.
