Daenerys Targaryen’s last living child, Drogon, comes to life in this impressive, fan-made sculpture that recreates the Game of Thrones creature.
A very dedicated Game of Thrones fan creates an incredible real-life metal Drogon sculpture that all Daenerys admirers need to see. Though Game of Thrones, HBO’s big-budget adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s fantasy series A Song of Ice and Fire, came to a controversial close in 2019, it remains a popular part of the cultural zeitgeist. In fact, the world of Westeros is about to see a massive resurgence with the release of HBO’s first Thrones spin-off, House of the Dragon. Though currently without a release date, House of the Dragon is expected to premiere sometime this year.
Shaky ending aside, there’s little question that many still hold affection for Game of Thrones and its characters. Plus, its place in television history can never be disputed; it helped kick off a new trend of high-fantasy shows, seemingly leading to the creation of projects like The Wheel of Time and The Witcher. Interestingly, Game of Thrones doesn’t hold quite as many traditional fantasy elements as those shows, though it has one major thing going for it: Dragons. Daenerys Targaryen is the mother of three dragons, named Rhaegal, Viserion, and Drogon.
It’s that last fire-breather that gets a special creation at the hands of a seriously talented Game of Thrones fan. Metal sculptor Kevin Stone has created an impressively detailed Drogon out of steel. The process has been documented in a recent video shared online by WanderVision BC, which fans can watch down below. And if they’re into Game of Thrones, they definitely should.

Of Daenerys’ dragons, Drogon is perhaps her unofficial favorite. Throughout Game of Thrones, she gravitates to him the most when it comes to riding, and Drogon is the last dragon left standing at the end of the series. Following the deaths of Viserion and Rhaegal, Drogon is the one to carry Dany’s lifeless body away from Westeros after Jon Snow kills her. He also famously melts down the Iron Throne in a rage. With all that in mind, it’s no wonder Drogon was chosen to be the subject of Stone’s incredible project.
Game of Thrones might’ve only had three dragons, but its predecessor promises to have several more. House of the Dragon focuses on the history of House Targaryen hundreds of years before the original series, and some of the first images to emerge from the project were concept art of dragons. Whether any of them will bear resemblance to Daenerys’ children remains to be seen, but eagle-eyed fans will be sure to spot any connections.
