How To Unlock R2-R9 (Spatula Spectacular Guide)

Date:

R2-R9 is a playable Astromech character that can be unlocked in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, but only after its side quest is complete.

In LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, one of the many Astromech droids that players can unlock is R2-R9. This particular character can only be unlocked by completing a side quest in the game, though players may recognize it from certain points in the story. R2-R9 is a completely red droid that was part of the Nabooian Cruiser crew alongside R2-D2 as the Astromechs went to the outside of the ship to repair it in Episode I – The Phantom Menace.

R2-R9 behaves like any other Astromech character in LEGO Star Star: The Skywalker Saga, and has the ability to unlock certain doors or activate certain areas throughout the game. The main feature that makes this R2 unit stand out from all others is its nearly solid red head and body with details of grey throughout its design. Much like other characters that aren’t playable through the story itself, R2-R9’s side quest is only available after reaching a certain point in the story.

After reaching Naboo in The Phantom Menace, players will be brought to the underwater Gungan city as part of the story in Episode I. Although there isn’t much to do on the first visit since it is part of the story, players can revisit the city to find R2-R9 standing by the entryway waiting to assign its side quest, Spatula Spectacular. In this side quest, players will need to deliver a message to one of the Gungan characters in LEGO Star Wars who is located in the underwater city itself.

How To Unlock R2-R9 In LEGO Star Wars

Once R2-R9’s side quest has been received, head down the left pathway and talk to one of the Gungans on the small platform. They’ll direct players to the character that they’re looking for in a bubble room on the next level. Continue down that pathway to find a Gungan swinging around the spatula claiming that it’s their new bug swatter. Deliver the message to the Gungan, and they’ll run frantically out of the room to return the spatula to its rightful owner.

As soon as the Gungan leaves the room, the Spatula Spectacular mission will automatically complete. This will reward players with the ability to buy R2-R9 for 35,000 Studs in LEGO Star Wars, as well as another Kyber Brick that can be used to purchase a number of upgrades in the game. R2-R9 will be available for any Free Play mission, though the droid cannot be used in any story mode content.
