Note to self: don’t invite Ashanti to your future birthday parties unless you’d like her to steal the spotlight with her outfit choice. Such was the case at Fat Joe’s 51st birthday shindig in New York City last week — although the rapper looked dapper in a Tiffany blue suit, Ashanti was undoubtedly the center of attention in her daring dress. The Grammy-winning singer likely gave other guests whiplash when she waltzed into the party wearing a formfitting minidress that featured numerous cutouts and was held together by just three metallic rings. Covered in a blue and black tropical print, the sexy design hails from Louisa Ballou, whose dresses have popped up on the ‘grams of Chloe Bailey, Dua Lipa, and SZA, to name a few famous fashionistas.

With input from stylist Tim B, Ashanti paired her dress with Yves Saint Laurent drop earrings, Cartier and Lorraine Schwartz bangles, and Tom Ford ankle-strap heels. Birthday boy and longtime friend Fat Joe couldn’t help but hilariously hype up her look on Instagram Live while recapping his bash. “When Ashanti comes out that car, Jesus Christmas!” he exclaimed, adding, “In all the years I’ve known her, she’s never looked better.” If you’re looking to turn some heads at your next birthday party — whether yours or otherwise — read ahead to shop Ashanti’s exact Louisa Ballou dress and similarly sexy styles to get the job done.
