In The Sims 4 Cottage Living, Sims can forage for new kinds of berries and mushrooms throughout Finchwick, Old New Henford, and the Bramblewood. The harvestables in Henford-on-Bagley can be easily separated into two categories: berries and mushrooms. Cottage Living introduced blueberries, raspberries, and chocoberries to the game. It also brought new kinds of Sims 4 mushrooms types specific to Henford-on-Bagley. These include the Verdant, Charming, Lovely, Spicy, and Nightly varieties of mushrooms. Certain foraged ingredients are necessary for cooking recipes, making animal treats, and helping Henford-on-Bagley villagers with their errands.
Harvestables may need some time to spawn and grow, even if they’re in season. Sims could also have better luck leaving a neighborhood and returning at different times of day, as well. If players want their Sims frequently foraging, they may consider moving their Sims into a lot in Henford-on-Bagley, specifically in the Bramblewood to help knock out any “forage 5 items from Bramblewood” quests. However, even for Sims who are just visiting, the world of Cottage Living has plenty to forage so long as players know where to look.
Where to Forage Mushrooms in Sims 4 Cottage Living
Mushrooms in Sims 4 can be particularly elusive at times. Having Seasons installed can also affect when they spawn and when they can be harvested. Depending on how much time a Sim spends in the Bramblewood, mushrooms could take a little longer to spawn and grow than normal. Since mushrooms are needed for recipes, errands, and crafting the various animal treats in Cottage Living, they are important to find.
For most of The Sims 4’s mushrooms, the type cannot be determined until a Sim forages them. They only appear as “Strange Mushrooms” before they are gathered. Strange Mushrooms can end up being Verdant, Spicy, Charming, or Lovely Mushrooms. These mushrooms are usually found at the following places in the Bramblewood:
- A bench on a path that overlooks Cordelia Falls.
- On the grass beside the gazebo near the ruins.
- In a small patch within the ruins, near the tree trunk.
- Near an entrance to Sophie the Snail’s spiral path.

There are also Wild Nightly Mushrooms in Sims 4, which spawn in fewer places. They can be gathered between 10pm and 6am. One Nightly Mushroom can be found at the bench near Cordelia Falls, close to where the Strange Mushrooms spawn. Another can be found right beside the ruins, on the opposite side from the entrance.
With Seasons installed, Nightly Mushrooms in Sims 4 are only harvestable during the winter!
Should players have particular difficulty, most harvestables can be acquired through other means as well. Raspberries, blueberries, and chocoberries are often available at the Sims 4’s grocer’s stall or the garden shop. Occasionally, these vendors will carry certain types of mushrooms, too. Villagers will sometimes reward Sims for helping with errands by giving them harvestables, or gift them as a Finchwick Favor. If Sims receive mushroom types this way, they can also grow them on their own lot for easier access.

If the Seasons expansion pack is installed, be mindful of when each berry is in season – except for chocoberries. In Sims 4, chocoberry season is year-round!
