Sing 2 is a Universal movie, and films from the studio have been released on digital after 17 days in theaters during the COVID pandemic. The studio has not, however, been following that schedule as consistently as it previously had been—the recent Universal movies Dear Evan Hansen and No Time To Die both landed on VOD about one month after opening in theaters. If Sing 2 follows a similar pattern, expect to see the movie on VOD in late January 2022. Stay tuned for more information.

Sing 2 Review
SING 2 is a sequel to 2016’s animated musical SING. Like the first film, SING 2 is written and directed by Garth Jennings. Both take place in a world of anthropomorphic animals, and both are jukebox musicals, with songs taken from pop culture rather than being composed specifically for the film.
In the original SING, Buster Moon (voiced by Matthew McConaughey), an ambitious koala bear who dreams of being a big-time producer, beats the odds and puts on a
phenomenally popular showcase that stars a variety of disparate types: shy elephant Meena (voiced by Tori Kelly), techno-rock pig Gunther (voiced by Nick Kroll), married (not to Gunther) mom of twenty-five piglets Rosita (voiced by Reese Witherspoon), gentle gorilla Johnny (voiced by Taron Egerton), and punk rock porcupine Ash (voiced by Scarlett Johansson).
In SING 2, Buster has created a stage musical for his troupe, which is hugely popular in their small town. From the brief glimpse we get of it, the show is imaginative and charming.
But Buster has his eye on big-city success. He is determined to get a shot with wolfish mega-producer Mr. Crystal (voiced by Bobby Cannavale). Crystal won’t even hear Buster out on the premise of his earlier stage show. Gunther blurts out his own pitch for a science-fiction musical. Due to a misunderstanding, Buster winds up having to promise that not only will the show be on its feet in three weeks, but it will also feature and have music by now-reclusive rock star Clay Calloway (voiced by Bono, of U2).
The critics have sung their peace on Sing 2, and the collective thinking appears to be “meh.” On aggregated review site Rotten Tomatoes Sing 2 has earned a 63% Fresh score (though audiences have given it a 97% positive score), while over on Metacritic the movie has earned a middling score of 49. Our own What to Watch review for Sing 2 labels it as a harmless but ultimately forgettable sequel.
